THE WORKS OF JOHN MOLL - APRIL 26 THROUGH MONTH OF MAY
April 26, 2009

OXFORD....The Oxford Museum will celebrate the centennial of the birth of John Moll (1909-1991) with a major retrospective of his prolific art career and life in Oxford, Maryland, during May, 2009.

This will be a unique opportunity to see the full range of John's work, including oils, watercolors, sketches, lithographs, engravings, architectural murals, book illustrations, note cards and post cards. The exhibit will open Oxford Day weekend, April 26, 2009, in a lovely and appropriate waterfront setting near John's home. His many types of themes and graphic mediums will be interspersed with reflections on the man himself, by his family and neighbors.

ST. MICHAELS MUSEUM AT ST. MARY`S SQUARE
May 1, 2009

ST. MICHAELS....THE OPENING EVENT WILL BE "Images of Old St Michaels, Maryland" This all new Exhibit will feature pictures, drawings and Thomas H. Sewell's Post Cards that depict Old St. Michael's, the town's residents and industry. The pictures date back to 1906 through the the 1950's.

Walking Tours of Frederick Douglass sites and the Historic Waterfront of St. Michaels will continue and can be arranged by calling 410-745-3050 or 410-745-0530.

Additionally, the museum will be open 4 days a week. Monday 10 - 1, Friday 1 - 4, Saturday 10 - 4, and Sunday 1 - 4.

So please come visit St. Michael's own Museum and see the history that created the town "That Fooled The British."

OXFORD....The play is the all-time Broadway hit, Born Yesterday, by Garson Kanin, coming to the Oxford Community Center for ten performances, Friday and Saturday, May 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 8 pm; Sunday matinees on May 3, 10 and 17 at 2 pm; and a Thrifty Thursday Early Bird show on May 14 at 7 pm.

Born Yesterday was a rave-review hit on Broadway in 1946.
Opening Night Champagne and Thrifty Thursday! Opening night for Born Yesterday, on May 1 will again feature complimentary champagne and light snacks starting at 7:00 pm before the 8:00 PM curtain. Also, for those who want an early evening and a terrific deal, remember that adult tickets are two-for-one on Thursday, May 14, at 7:00 pm and students (through college with ID) are free. EASTON....In culmination of the 50th anniversary year, the Academy Art Museum will celebrate their Annual Spring Gala on Friday, May 1, 2009 - with the famed Alex Donner Orchestra. The youngest of a small coterie of America`s most popular bandleaders, Alex Donner is a native New Yorker who performs with his own orchestra from New York to San Francisco to London to Palm Beach.

# Jimmy Buffet-style summer fun!

The Easton Farmers Market attracts 700-1,000 visitors per Saturday during a season which runs from April right up until Christmas. Operating from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, and Wednesdays during the summer months, this experience has become more than a typical shopping trip for local residents and visitors to the area. Live music is presented from 10:30am–12:30pm, and many shoppers make a point of meeting friends and their favorite vendors regularly during their visits. Seasonal farm produce, farm products and meats, seafood, and baked goods are presented, as well as unique hand-crafted items – sold by the people who harvested or created them. These friendly, well-informed vendors are always ready to teach and talk. Aprons and market bags are now available for sale with the Easton Farmers Market logo.

TALBOT HUMANE DOG WALK-A-THON

ST. MICHAELS....Dogs of all shapes and sizes are welcome to participate in the walk-a-thon. Registration at 9 AM. After the Blessing of the Animals, (10 AM), walkers will head out toward Talbot Street and venture through downtown St. Michaels.

10TH ANNUAL MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL
May 2, 2009

EASTON.... On May 2, 2009, the 10th annual Multicultural Festival is scheduled to take place in Easton's Idlewild Park. [Rain location Easton Middle School].

Beginning at 10:00 and continuing till 3:00, eight different musical groups will entertain. Over 30 different community organizations will have tables displaying their interests and services to cultural diverse community. Lots of BBQ chicken, and pork and other delicious foods and snacks will be available. Kids games, Face painting, Jimi Mac and his magic acts and much, much more will be there to enjoy. Entertainment and exhibits are free. Come enjoy the day with your neighbors. Bring your kids and grandkids. Meet new people, make new friends.

7TH ANNUAL EASTERN SHORE GOLF CLASSIC

EASTON.... The 7th Annual Eastern Shore Golf Classic will be held on May 4th at Hog Neck Golf Course in Easton, Maryland with a 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

EASTON.... Easton Mayor Robert Willey will celebrate the National Day of Prayer with other town leaders from noon to 12:45 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at Thompson Park, on the corner of Washington and Dover Streets.

The public is invited. Participants may wish to bring a lawn chair.

MARGARITAVILLE GOLF TOURNAMENT

ST. MICHAELS....The Talbot Optimist Club proudly presents the 2009 Margaritaville golf Tournament. Voted one of Talbot County's best golf tournaments, the Optimist's Margaritaville Golf Tournament is back and promises a day of fun while raising money for Talbot County youth organizations supported by the Optimist's annual, charitable donations. Sponsors include Aqua Pools & Spas of Easton.

Golfers will enjoy snacks and beverages on the course, dinner, prizes, tournament shirt, goodie bag, cart and greens fees. Dinner guests welcome! Prizes include closest to the pole, long drive and a hole-in-one-contest.

EASTON AIRPORT DAY
May 16, 2009

EASTON....Easton Airport will celebrate Easton Airport Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday May 16. The celebration is free and open to the public.

Throughout the day there will be flight training exercises with planes including Russian Yak-52's, Chinese CJ-6's, T-6's and T-28's. At noon all of the planes will flyover the airport. The Chesapeake Classic Car Club will also have classic cars out on display. Food and drinks will be available but no coolers will be allowed.

BLUE ANGELS DEMONSTRATION, MAY 20 AND 22

ANNAPOLIS....USNA (UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY)
A Blue Angels flight demonstration exhibits choreographed refinements of skills possessed by all naval aviators. It includes the graceful aerobatic maneuvers of the four-plane Diamond Formation, in concert with the fast-paced, high-performance maneuvers of its two Solo Pilots. Finally, the team illustrates the pinnacle of precision flying, performing maneuvers locked as a unit in the renowned, six-jet Delta Formation.

OXFORD FINE ARTS FAIR, May 23-24

OXFORD....DONATIONS, MAY 29TH

So it's springtime and you are finally getting around to cleaning out that closet (room, shed, boat, house, etc.) that you've been trying to get to for awhile. But what should you do with all the stuff you don't want? It's too good to throw in the trash (after all, you liked it at one point!) Well, here's a thought - take your "used to be treasures" to the Oxford Firehouse for the semi-annual Rummage Sale. The Ladies Auxiliary will be accepting your donations from 9am to 4pm on May 29.

Of course, now that you will have gotten rid of all your "junk", you should stop by the Rummage Sale between 9am and noon on Saturday, the 30th, and see what new treasures you can find!
