Farm Bureau Showcases Local Growers on Eastern Shore of MD

Dorchester County Farm Bureau Showcases Local Growers

Thursday July 18th the Dorchester County Farm Bureau sponsored a Business After Hours Event for the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce at Emily’s Produce on Route 16 south of Cambridge. The purpose was to showcase the diverse aquaculture and agriculture in Dorchester County and the vast number of people that food reaches. The slogan “Feeding Near and Far” was designed to highlight the global market that enjoys the food produced here.

Participation was outstanding. The Farm Bureau offered a wide variety of local foods including corn, bison, watermelons, tomatoes, potatoes, oysters, vegetables, wine and more. Attendees were treated to food, wine and beverages as well as presentations from growers about their products. Door prizes were plentiful and many people went home with an extra treat. Vendors included Chesapeake Gold Oysters, SB Farms Inc. Bison Farm, Layton’s Chance Winery, Black Gold Potatoes, Emily’s Produce, Dorchester County Soil Conservation, University of Maryland Extension Agency and more. The Dorchester County Farm Bureau plans to make this an annual event.
