FREDERICK DOUGLASS` YEARS IN THE BAYSIDE
February 7, 2011
EASTON....Noon - Priscilla Morris, a local researcher and amateur historian will be the guest speaker at the February 7th Brown Bag Lunch program at the St Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library.
Frederick Douglas, Years in the Bayside is the subject of her talk. Ms. Morris will discuss her research into the places where Douglass spent his time between 1833 and 1836, focusing on the Bayside farms he described.
The talk will provide a working knowledge of what occurred where and will explore Douglass`s uncanny memory for details and the local impact of his exposé when first published in 1845. Her deep interest in local history grew from rehabilitating area houses, from 17th century family roots in Talbot County, and mainly, from the writings of Frederick Douglass. Morris is a commercial real estate appraiser, board member of Historic Easton, and founder of Easton's Railway Market.
The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons are invited to bring their lunch and enjoy coffee and sweets provided by the library.
