Mar 4: Still Life and Figurative Oil Painting Sessions with Louis Escobedo - Classes are the first four weeks of each month. Thursdays 9 AM - 4 PM. Intermediate and advanced painters. By observation, students learn how Louis approaches a painting, manipulates the paint and solves problems. Sessions encompass figurative and still life subjects, and students will paint the same thing Louis is painting. The last hour includes a vital critique of students' paintings. Mar 5: First Friday Gallery Walk - Enjoy the exhibits at galleries, shops and restaurants in downtown Easton during the evening event. Ed Cooper is known for his mesmerizing landscapes of skies and marshes; and for his classic white farmhouses. Learn how Ed paints and utilizes architecture in his landscapes - from a village scene, to a solitary farmhouse, to far away buildings scattered at the distant edge of a marsh. Limited class size. Working from the still life, Nancy teaches fundamentals of drawing, composition, color mixing and how to see colors in their appropriate values. Limited class size. Easton Studio & School, Easton. Mar 9 - Apr 20: Designing for Plein Air Workshop by Tim Bell - Six week course on Tuesdays 1-4 PM, (no class March 30). All levels of painters. Tim teaches the essentials of plein air painting, (indoors unless weather is unseasonably warm), with a focus on good design principles which engage the viewer and lead the eye into and through your painting. Mar 20-22: Still Life Workshop by Gay Faulkenberry - 9 AM - 4 PM. For all levels of painters. In this oil painting workshop, Gay addresses the challenge and excitement of painting the still life. Gay learned to paint by studying the still life with noted Russian Impressionist Sergei Bongart. This class is designed to help the artist to understand color harmony, value relationships, color temperature, (i.e. warm and cook), color mixtures and create a luminous feeling of light in your still life. Through lectures, slides and demonstrations, Gay will take you through her process of setting up a still life, starting a painting, and pulling the painting together to a finish. Limited class size.
