Battle of St. Michaels Celebration

St. Michaels, MD, April 5, 2013– Applications are now being accepted for entrants in the Battle of St. Michaels Celebration parade to be held in St. Michaels on Saturday, August 10, 2013.  The parade will begin at 10:00 am and is sponsored by the Town of St. Michaels in conjunction with the Star Spangled 200 state-wide commemoration.  Following the parade, and continuing throughout the weekend, the Town of St. Michaels will host encampments, lectures, concert music, food and children's activities promoting heritage tourism and the region's significance in this important historical event.

Beginning at the ballpark across from the Inn at Perry Cabin, the parade will proceed south on Talbot St. and end at the St. Michaels High School parking lot.  The approximate duration of the parade will be one hour. The parade will feature bands, military groups, community groups, re-enactors, classic automobiles, elected officials and floats with an historic or nautical theme.  Prizes will be awarded in three categories: bands, floats, and groups that best represent the culture and history of the era.  Deadline for submission is June 30, 2013.  Space is limited so applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
