The Oxford Day Parade in Oxford, Maryland will run from 11:00 AM until noon. Morris Street will be closed to all traffic from 10:30 until noon. Please allow extra time to travel in and out of Oxford all morning. There will be bands, many floats, various cars and trucks, etc.

Oxford Day at the Cooperative Oxford Laboratory

The Lab will be open from 12:30 to 2:30; the activities listed below are currently scheduled. There will be two shuttles operating between a bus stop at the Causeway Park, area C, and the Lab, area D.
  • Build a buoy, drive some underwater robots and learn about how technology helps us understand our environment.
  • Coast Guard Auxiliary booth with "Coastie" the Talking Safety Boat
  • US Coast Guard display with boat
  • Display tanks with striped bass, shad, sturgeon and snakeheads
  • Critter tank with sturgeon, horseshoe crabs and other Bay creatures (a little more hands-on than the display tank)
  • Marine mammal and sea turtle exhibit
  • Integrated Assessment (Comprehensive Bay Health Study) exhibit and seining activity
  • Chesapeake Bay health report card
  • History of the Lab and other poster and video displays
  • Hot Dogs and Lemonade booth, donations accepted.

Oxford, Maryland Picket Fence Tour 2011

This is Santy Gibson's 2011 entry for the 2011 Oxford Picket Fence Tour. Area artists are invited to paint on portions of Oxford, Maryland's famous picket fence design. Each artist selects a charity to support and there is an auction in October. Santy Gibson chose to support Water For People.

 Her theme for the fence is the Oxford Day Parade. The Oxford Day Parade is a fun event that happens at the end of April each year in Oxford, MD.

On Saturday, April 30, 2011, Oxford will celebrate its 17th Annual Oxford Day. All of the organizations and businesses in town will be working hard to prepare for this all-day family celebration. So invite your friends and family to visit, plan on staying home, put aside the yard work and errands. Just relax, walk around our wonderful town and enjoy all the activities. And, this year's Oxford Day participants will be asked to add an environmentally friendly element to their floats, displays, and events to show that as a community Oxford is committed to making a difference in our world today and tomorrow.


Oxford Day Parade will run from 11:00 AM until noon. Please note that Morris Street will be closed to ALL traffic from 10:45 until noon. Please allow extra time to travel in and out of town all morning and especially during the parade. There will be bands, many floats, various cars and trucks, a bagpiper, walkers, and some new entries in the parade.

Join the Cooperative Oxford Laboratory who will have plenty of hands-on, marine science activities and exhibits, including many fun activities for kids. See some of the “critters” that live in the Bay, learn about the Bay and oceans from local scientists and science professionals. Located at the end of South Morris Street, it can be accessed by walking or catching the shuttle to and from Causeway Park.

A Flower Basket Competition is being held in conjunction with 2011 Oxford Day. All residence and business owners are encouraged to display fresh flowers in welcome and celebration of Oxford, spring, families, and town visitors. Displays can include traditional flower baskets on doors, fences, posts, hanging basket displays, flowers displayed on porches - be creative! Contact the Oxford Town Office for more information or to sign up.

The Oxford Bellevue Ferry, believed to be the nation's oldest privately operated ferry service, crosses the Tred Avon River between Oxford, Maryland and Bellevue, Maryland. Established in 1683, the ferry is celebrating its 327th birthday this year, so take a ride and help celebrate history! Note: the ferry will open 1 hour early at 8:00 AM for Oxford Day.

This year's Oxford Day 10K race and 5K fun walk will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure®MD. The Oxford Day 10K Run will start from the Oxford Community Center at 8:00 AM and 5K fun walk at 8:30 AM. Online registration may be done at Active.com. On site registration starts at 6:30 AM.

The Dog Show and Dog Walk will give you a chance to let your favorite pooch shine. These events are sponsored by Talbot Humane Society, and all proceeds will benefit the activities of the society.

As usual, there will be music after the parade, including the US Navy’s “Country Current” Bluegrass Band, the Mid-Shore Community Band, and Old Friend’s Gospel Band! Food is available around town, provided by several non-profit groups, the Oxford Market and our local restaurants. Fun activities for kids occur throughout the day and in several locations. Watch the schedule as it develops between now and April 30th.

"Also just outside of Easton, the town of Oxford will be holding its 17th annual Oxford Day Celebration on April 30. The festival will feature a parade beginning at 11 a.m., a dog show, live bag pipers and other music, a Civil War reenactment, and five and ten kilometer runs. The day will also celebrate the 327th anniversary of the Oxford Bellevue Ferry, the nation’s oldest privately owned ferry service."

Oxford, Maryland....On Saturday, April 30th, the historic town of Oxford, MD will celebrate its 17th Annual Oxford Day. Oxford organizations and businesses in town have been working hard to prepare for this all-day family event. So invite your friends and family to visit, put aside the yard work and errands. Just relax, walk around our wonderful town and enjoy all the activities.
