Oxford Day at the Cooperative Oxford Laboratory

The Lab will be open from 12:30 to 2:30; the activities listed below are currently scheduled. There will be two shuttles operating between a bus stop at the Causeway Park, area C, and the Lab, area D.
  • Build a buoy, drive some underwater robots and learn about how technology helps us understand our environment.
  • Coast Guard Auxiliary booth with "Coastie" the Talking Safety Boat
  • US Coast Guard display with boat
  • Display tanks with striped bass, shad, sturgeon and snakeheads
  • Critter tank with sturgeon, horseshoe crabs and other Bay creatures (a little more hands-on than the display tank)
  • Marine mammal and sea turtle exhibit
  • Integrated Assessment (Comprehensive Bay Health Study) exhibit and seining activity
  • Chesapeake Bay health report card
  • History of the Lab and other poster and video displays
  • Hot Dogs and Lemonade booth, donations accepted.

  • Dog Show moves to Masthead at Pier Street (9:30)
  • Family Hour moves to Masthead at Pier Street (10:00)
  • Marketplace/Scales and Tales move to Oxford Fire Company
  • Music in Town Park will be cancelled
  • All Causeway food sales move to the Oxford Fire Company
  • Kid’s Olympics/Causeway Park activities cancelled
  • Cooperative Oxford Lab activities are unaffected
  • Parade only cancelled in the event of torrential rains

OXFORD, Maryland Oxford Community Center will Host Local Authors Sunday November 22 -


"Scribes of the Shore" is a unique opportunity to meet several of the Eastern Shore's well-known as well as emerging authors is planned for Sunday, November 22 at 2 pm, at the Oxford Community Center in Oxford. This eclectic group of authors has been assembled in appreciation of their work and to demonstrate the rich literary output of the region. Each of the authors will speak, answer questions, autograph books and be honored at a reception following the program. Under the joint sponsorship of the Oxford Community Center and Mystery Loves Company bookstore in Oxford, the event is free and open to the public, but advance reservations are advised.

Kathy Harig of Mystery Loves Company will moderate the panel of authors.

A pair of newly-weds move into a fifth floor, walk-up apartment, complete with no bathroom, a leaky ceiling and a host of certifiably nutty neighbors. He’s a stuffed shirt young attorney, she’s a sweet, romantic young things.

Oxford Fine Arts Fair - Eastern Shore

MEMORIAL WEEKEND FINE ARTS FAIR


Saturday and Sunday this May from 10-5 daily
Proceeds benefit programs at the Oxford Community Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Oxford, Maryland.
This Eastern Shore Art Fair will showcase local and national artists participating by jury selection who will show and sell their work at the Oxford Fine Arts Fair. If you like art, be sure and stop by Oxford, Maryland this weekend and visit the Oxford Community Center.

Oxford, Maryland has some wonderful live shows to entertain you.
Washingtonian Magazine has described TAP as “the best theatre on the Eastern Shore.”
And the Easton Star Democrat has noted the “consistent high quality” of TAP’s productions.

DIRECTIONS TO TRED AVON PLAYERS
PLEASE SLOW DOWN to 25 mph coming in to Oxford. They are serious about the speed limit in Oxford and we'd hate for your night out to the theatre to be ruined by a speeding ticket. Also, watch out for deer, especially in the fall.

DIRECTIONS
From North:
Take Rt. 50 to Easton and yield right onto Rt. 322 (the Easton Bypass).
Go about 3.5 miles and turn right on Rt. 333, Oxford Rd. (Be careful not to turn on Rt. 33 which is St. Michaels Rd.)
Proceed about 8.5 miles to Oxford.
The Oxford Community Center will be on your left just past the fire department building.
Turn left just past the Community Center onto Second St.
From South:
Take Rt. 50 towards Easton and turn left onto Almshouse Rd.
Go about 2.5 miles and turn left on Rt. 333, Oxford Rd.
Proceed about 4 miles to Oxford.
The Oxford Community Center will be on your left just past the fire department building.
Turn left just past the Community Center onto Second St.
Alternately, from the south you could take Rt. 50 to Easton and turn left on Rt. 322 and then turn left on Rt. 333 to Oxford.
PARKING
Free parking is available both behind the building in our lot and in the driveway in front of the building.
